Report 30 June 2009
Added at 10:29 1st July 2009 by Anthony Leeves |
The total of 390 quarter peals recorded to 30 June is a little down on last year's 411. Canterbury District again has the most quarter peals (111) although Maidstone has the highest number on tower bells (103 compared to Canterbury's 97). Again as last year, Maidstone has the highest average per tower (2.9) and Tonbridge has the highest percentage of towers with a quarter peal (50%).
The leading towers - Aylesford (27) and Maidstone, All Saints (25) are the same as last year (although the order has changed). Increased activity following the augmentation at Chelsfield puts that tower in third place with 20.
Darren Elphick again leads the conductors with 43, well ahead of Richard Edwards (25) and Mike Little (24).
There have only been 9 ringers scoring their first quarter peal (last year 12) and just one first as conductor (last year 4). |
