Report 30 September 2011
Added at 09:45 1st October 2011 by Anthony Leeves |
709 quarter peals have been recorded to 30 September. This is nearly 100 more than for the same period in 2010 (610), some of the increase resulting from the activity of a touring band in July/August. Canterbury District has recorded the most (266), has the highest average per tower (4.3), has the highest percentage of ringable towers with at least one quarter peal (75%), and has the leading tower (Birchington All Saints with 59). Also recording a large number of quarter peals are Great Chart with 42 and Kennington with 40.
Graham Coker leads the list of conductors with 98 (including his 50th and 100th as conductor), with Mike Little not far behind on 90.
21 ringers have rung their first quarter peal (down a little on 26 in 2010), and 3 have rung their first as conductor.
Tower captains recording milestones in their own tower are Graham Heath with his 400th on the bells of All Saints Maidstone and Tony Martin with his 250th on the bells at Thanington. |
