Added at 09:08 1st July 2013 by Anthony Leeves |
431 quarter peals have been recorded to 30 June. This compares with 493 recorded to that date in 2012, but that included 133 for the Diamond Jubilee. Canterbury District has the highest number (132), Ashford District the highest average per tower (2.6) and Tonbridge District the highest percentage of towers with a quarter peal (76%).
Birchington (All Saints) is the leading tower with 29, followed by Ashford with 23. The Birchington total includes 16 different Doubles methods or variations and 8 multi method quarter peals.
Mark Chittenden-Pile leads the list of conductors with 62, followed by Mike Little with 38 and Daniel Brady with 22.
18 ringers have rung their first quarter peal in 2013. It is particularly encouraging that seven ringers have rung their first as conductor.
Significant milestones are Neil Jones' 1,000th quarter peal and the 1,250th quarter peal together for Diana & Timothy Wraight.
Among the many footnotes, there are quarter peals for the 40th anniversary of David Cawley's Ordination, the 60th anniversary of the Queen's Coronation, the enthronement of the new Archbishop of Canterbury, and Donald Niblett's 80th birthday. |
