496 quarter peals have been recorded for the first six months of 2015. All Saints Birchington continues to be the leading tower (37) and Mike Little is the leading conductor (46). Thirteen people rang their first quarter peal and two their first as conductor. The augmented four at Monkton had its first quarter peal.
Significant milestones were Diana Wraight's 1500th quarter peal and Stephen Davis' 1000th.
Significant events for which quarter peals were rung included the 800th anniversary of the signing of Magna Carta, the 300th anniversary of the first true peal, the 200th aniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, the 70th anniversary of VE Day, the 50th anniversary of the death of Sir Winston Churchill, St George's Day and the birth of Princess Charlotte. Among the in memoriam quarter peals were several in memory of Eileen Palin of Faversham. |
