2020 Annual Quarter Peal Report
Added at 09:20 10th February 2021 by Anthony Leeves |
2020 was an unusual year for quarter peals as it was for all ringing. The year started as normal with the usual leading towers and conductors up until the first lock down. Then family handbell quarter peals of Minimus or Minor were the only quarter peals until restrictions were eased allowing handbell ringers from more than one household to meet in the open air. A few people used Ringing Room or other apps for quarter peals, one of which was rung across two Districts. 6 people rang their first quarter peal on handbells. Unsurprisingly, three of the six leading "towers" were handbell venues and the top three conductors were conductors who called several handbell quarter peals. Congratulations to the 10 ringers who rang their first quarter peal, and to the three firsts as conductor. Darren Elphick rang his 2,500th quarter peal, Clare Larter her 1,500th and Elizabeth Shearman her 1,000th.
