In memory of Charles William Scott, the seventeenth of twenty Kemsing men to die in World War One, who died on this day 100 years ago. His brother, Arthur, was killed just over two months before him. Also in memory of Wilfred Lacey, whose name appears on the Kemsing War Memorial, but who has only recently been positively identified. He was posted missing on 31st March, 1918. Also in memory of his wife, Eleanor (nee Covill) of Kemsing. She gave over 6,000 hours of voluntary service to the Kemsing VAD Hospital, joining on its first day, and leaving on its last. |
